About

The Department of Pharmacy Practice focuses on the application of pharmaceutical knowledge and skills in real-world clinical settings. Students learn about patient-centered care, medication management, and pharmaceutical care principles. They develop skills in medication dispensing, patient counseling, and drug information provision.

Through rotations in hospitals, community pharmacies, and other healthcare settings, students gain practical experience in interacting with patients, collaborating with other healthcare professionals, and managing medication-related issues. The department also covers topics such as pharmacoeconomics, pharmacovigilance, and healthcare policy. Research within Pharmacy Practice often focuses on improving patient outcomes, optimizing medication use, and evaluating the effectiveness of pharmaceutical interventions.

Graduates are prepared to practice as pharmacists in various settings, providing essential medication-related services to patients and contributing to the health and well-being of the community. They are equipped to be responsible and knowledgeable healthcare professionals, advocating for safe and effective medication use.

About

Dr. Anil Tumkur Mruthyunjaya, M.Pharm, Ph.D., is currently serving as Professor and Vice Principal at SDM College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, SDM University, Dharwad. He has over 18 years of teaching experience and 6 years in pharmaceutical marketing. He earned his Ph.D. in 2014 from Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

• Served as Principal of Shri Sharanabasaveswar College of Pharmacy, Vijayapura (2021–2024).
• Worked internationally at International Medical University, Malaysia (2014–2021).
• Actively contributed to PCI’s NEP-2020 implementation workshop as a subject expert.
• Reviewer for multiple PubMed-indexed journals, including:
