A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was formally signed on 25 August 2026 between Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara University (SDM University), Dharwad, represented by Dr. Chidendra Shettar, Registrar, SDM University, and Shri Bhavani Pharmaceuticals, Hubballi, represented by Shri Manohara Bakale, Managing Partner, Shri Bhavani Pharmaceuticals.
The MoU was signed with the objective of strengthening industry–academia collaboration and providing meaningful industrial exposure and internship opportunities to students of Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College of Pharmaceutical Sciences (SDMCPS), Dharwad.
The signing ceremony was held in the presence of Dr. Ajantha G. S., Deputy Registrar; Dr. Anil Tumkur Mruthyunjaya, Principal, SDM College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dharwad; Miss Mahima Mudhole, Lecturer, SDM College of Pharmaceutical Sciences; and Shri Sumit Bakale, Shri Bhavani Pharmaceuticals.
Purpose and Significance of the MoU
- The MoU establishes a framework for cooperation between the academic institution and the pharmaceutical industry to enhance the practical knowledge, technical skills, professional competence, and employability of pharmacy students. The agreement particularly aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and the requirements of the pharmaceutical industry.
- Under the MoU, students of SDM College of Pharmaceutical Sciences will have opportunities for industrial internships, industrial orientation, practical training, and exposure to various pharmaceutical operations. These may include Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Documentation Practices (GDP), Quality Assurance (QA), Quality Control (QC), Production, Regulatory Affairs, Warehouse Management, Packaging, and other relevant functions, subject to the policies of Shri Bhavani Pharmaceuticals.
Expected Outcomes
- The MoU is expected to provide students with valuable hands-on industrial exposure, enabling them to relate theoretical concepts learned in the classroom to actual pharmaceutical industry practices. It will also contribute to improving students' professional competencies and preparedness for employment in the pharmaceutical sector.
- The collaboration is particularly significant in strengthening the industry–academia interface of SDM College of Pharmaceutical Sciences and creating a structured platform for experiential learning and professional development.
