On the occasion of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the NSS Unit of our college organized an impactful guest lecture on 26th June 2025 at the college campus. The session featured Dr. Naidila Jain, Senior Resident at SDM College of Medical Sciences & Hospital, Dharwad, who spoke on the topic: "The Psychosocial and Social Dimensions of Substance Abuse and the Role of Healthcare Professionals in Prevention and Rehabilitation"

Dr. Naidila provided a comprehensive overview of the psychosocial factors contributing to substance abuse, highlighting the crucial roles played by family, peer pressure, community environment, and social stigma. She also discussed the multi-faceted role of healthcare professionals in prevention, early intervention, counselling, and long-term rehabilitation.

A key aspect of her talk was the introduction to the rehabilitation programs and support systems available within SDM University, which aim to provide compassionate and structured care to those battling addiction. To deepen the understanding of the subject, Dr. Naidila narrated real-life case scenarios of individuals affected by substance abuse. These powerful stories created a lasting impact on the student audience, encouraging empathy and awareness.
